FIRST PRINTING ! WOW ! WHAT A FIND!!!! ART OF ROCK (2.300) RICK GRIFFIN ART DAN HICKS SIGNED !See Below for shipping cost details .Excellent maybe NM condition -
NO HOLES TAPE BENDS FOLDS CREASES ! All photos have been taken in natural light - I put on a gray background in order to see some overall yellowing has occurred - unfortunately very common for a print of this age as until early 1980s everything was stored ( if stored at all!) in cardboard which is full of acid . This print is FLAT FLAT FLAT!!! There are 2 very small areas that show a slight ‘pop’ ( not sure what else to call
It ) - I have HIGHLIGHTED these in order to show for complete transparency - they actually barely even show - all edges of the poster are straight - not even a corner bend anywhere !
10 % Benefits Make A Wish of Michigan in Honor of Anthony Verdezoto Thank You for helping to support this amazing origination with your purchases!
ORIGINAL ! 1967 ! SIGNED BY DAN HICKS of The Charlatans - Dan Hicks pioneered ‘acid rock’ before the Dead and also became a prolific poster artist himself - This is a Rick Griffin Poster design though ! Wonderful historical piece of rock history ! VINTAGE - THIS IS NOT A COPY OR REPRINT!!
ORIGINAL Medicine Show Poster Griffin Charlatans Summer '67 1967 "Medicine Show" Jook Savages, Charlatans; Rick Griffin Performers: Jook Savages, Vast Majority, Charlatans, The Old Grey ZipperIllustrator: Rick GriffinVenue: Irwin Street WarehouseDate: 5/12 & 13/1967 City: San Rafael State: CaliforniaSize: 20" x 14"Printing: Signed by Dan Hicks This original first printing was featured in the Art of Rock (2.300). Noteworthy also is that it features Griffin's own band at the time, the Jook Savages. It was also among the early posters distributed by Berkeley Bonaparte, the distribution company formed by Griffin, Alton Kelley, Victor Moscoso, Stanley Mouse and Wes Wilson. This is also a great example of the fascination early San Francisco counterculture poster artists had with notions of the wild west, indians and elixers that cured what ailed you.
I acquired this poster from the estate of a prolific and long term rock poster collector who knew many if not most of the artists who made them .
This poster has been stored flat for many years and will be shipped FLAT in acid free packaging to protect the integrity of the art . Shipping is a flat rate of - Why? For materials Foam Core - Which leaves for shipping costs - Ebay will also take 10 percent of shipping costs ( many don’t know this) - is break even or lose a little bit for me . I had several people contact me I the last on why shipping is so high for a ‘poster’ . I will not send this poster in a tube to save a few dollars . It’s historical significance and condition will not allow my conscious to send rolled in a tube ! Plus you get a ‘portfolio’ to keep it in until it can be framed . Thank You!
