    Description

    Offered is scarce original photo of the contract signing for “THE FIGHT OF THE CENTURY”. Jack Johnson vs James. J Jefferies. The photo is matted and hand inscribed in white. The inscription includes the major luminaries, the date of New York City , Oct.29.09. And “Signing of the articles of The Jefferies-Johnson Contest over a case of Pommery”. The measurements are 20.5” x 18” in frame. Likely used as a Pommery Champagne promotion, possibly to hang in bars? The photo itself is fine with copyright 1909 By Fred Hemment. The black matt has a small tear in upper  left by Johnson name. The framing was done later. Great item for the boxing enthusiast as well as an antique advertising piece. Not many of these remain.
